Major Award Winners
MSFL Offensive Player of the Year — Christian Carter, Midway
Midway quarterback Christian Carter delivered one of the most explosive offensive seasons in MSFL history, earning the 2025 MSFL Offensive Player of the Year distinction. The sophomore from Huntsville, Alabama powered the Eagles with elite dual-threat production, throwing for 2,188 yards, 25 touchdowns, and a 58.1% completion rate across eight games. Carter led the conference in passing yards per game (273.5) and yards per attempt (10.1) while unleashing an MSFL-long 89-yard strike.
Carter added 322 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns, finishing with 2,510 total yards of offense—the top mark in the league. His 170.6 passer efficiency rating underscored his command of Midway’s offense, as he consistently stretched the field and elevated the Eagles’ scoring unit. His explosive playmaking cemented him as the MSFL’s premier offensive force in 2025.
MSFL Defensive Player of the Year — Trevor Busse, Calumet (IN)
Calumet linebacker Trevor Busse repeated as the league’s top defender, earning the MSFL Defensive Player of the Year award for the second consecutive season. The senior from Knox, Indiana anchored the Crimson Wave defense with 69 total tackles, 6 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 1 interception, 2 pass breakups, 1 forced fumble, and 2 fumble recoveries across eight games. His 8.6 tackles per game ranked among the conference’s elite.
A consistent force throughout his career, Busse graduates as the MSFL’s all-time leading tackler with 258 career tackles, setting a historic benchmark for future defenders. His instincts, physicality, and leadership were foundational to Calumet’s defensive identity, making him one of the most disruptive and reliable players in league history.
MSFL Special Teams Player of the Year — Jeau Vinatieri, Calumet (IN)
Calumet sophomore Jeau Vinatieri claimed his second straight postseason honor with a dynamic, multi-phase performance that earned him the 2025 MSFL Special Teams Player of the Year award. A 2024 MSFL Special Teams POY and 2024 CSFL Hub All-American, Vinatieri continued to showcase one of the strongest and most accurate legs in the nation.
He converted 6-of-9 field goals, including an MSFL-record 48-yard make, and added 22-of-26 PATs, finishing second on the team with 40 points. Vinatieri also contributed as a punter—averaging 39.7 yards per kick—and dominated kickoff duties, sending 43 kickoffs for 2,239 yards and a 52.1-yard average. His ability to control field position and deliver in pressure moments separated him as the league’s premier specialist.
MSFL Coach of the Year — Blaine Powell, St. Mary-of-the-Woods College
St. Mary-of-the-Woods College head coach Blaine Powell earned his second MSFL Coach of the Year award after leading the Pomeroys to a historic and undefeated season. Powell guided SMWC to a perfect 8–0 record, culminating in a commanding 33–6 victory over Calumet to secure the program’s second MSFL Championship. His team also reached the championship stage for the fourth straight year, extending one of the most dominant stretches in league history.
The Pomeroys delivered the first fully undefeated season in program history under Powell’s guidance, executing at a championship level on both sides of the ball. His leadership, culture-building, and sustained excellence once again placed SMWC at the forefront of the conference.
